Safer roads. Smarter infrastructure. Proactive solutions. Road safety and congestion are major concerns across Ward 5. I want us looking ahead rather than waiting for accidents or infrastructure failures before taking action. That means examining practical improvements such as road repairs, wider shoulders, better lighting, safer sight lines and infrastructure that keeps pace with our communities.

Growth should respect what makes Ward 5 different. Our villages, farms, rural roads, natural spaces and strong sense of community are part of what makes Ward 5 special. As Ottawa grows, we need to protect that character and ensure City decisions recognize that rural communities have different needs than urban neighborhoods.

Ward 5 residents deserve value from the City they help fund. Rural residents pay City of Ottawa taxes too. I want to make sure our communities have reasonable access to the services, infrastructure and support they need while recognizing that one-size-fits-all urban solutions don't always make sense here.

Infrastructure needs to keep pace with development. Housing and development matter, but growth has to be planned responsibly. New development should not simply add more vehicles to already-congested roads or overwhelm existing infrastructure. We need to understand the impact on roads, traffic, services and existing communities before problems are created.

Follow the money. Make every dollar count. I'm not going to make unrealistic promises about simply lowering taxes while maintaining every service. My commitment is to scrutinize spending, ask hard questions and make sure residents' tax dollars are accounted for and used efficiently. My background in finance and construction gives me a practical perspective on budgets, costs and getting value for money.
